Specialist in the field of formation of intensive protective coatings on structural and refractory materials.
With his participation, the scientific foundations of a new direction in physical materials science have been created. His work on protection against erosion, corrosion of structural steels used in turbine construction is known.
For several decades he performed a number of experimental works that have found practical application, in particular, in protection of blades of steam turbines of TPPs and nuclear power plants, etc. Techniques. Co-author of more than 178 scientific papers and 9 inventions.

Areas of scientific activity and interests:
  • solid state physics;
  • modification of the surface upon irradiation with low-energy plasma and creation of metallic, nitride and carbide coatings on the surface of structural materials.

He is specialist in the field of high-temperature chemical-technical treatment of materials and deposition of coatings. Under its leadership the scientific base of new line in this field is developed – activated diffusion saturation in vacuum. During more than 40 years he performed theoretical and experimental works developing idea on reaction diffusion as complex physical process proceeding in conditions of gas-phase and liquid activation in vacuum. On the base of these ideas physical-chemical base of some innovation technologies is developed. He is author and co-author of more than 150 scientific papers and inventions.

Areas of scientific activity and interests:
  • physics of solids – diffusion, defects of crystalline lattice, physical-chemical and mechanical properties of crystals;
  • protecting coatings on metallic and carbon materials – development of multi purpose anticorrosion, wear-resistant, stable in chemically active media, liquid metals and others;
  • development of new high-temperature structural materials – rocket-space technique, electrothermics, power and other.
