               Laboratory was founded in 1967. His organizer and head was professor, doctor of physics and mathematics Tikhinskiy Gennadiy Filippovich.

 The main scientific lines of the laboratory during the first years of its foundations were investigation of mechanisms of beryllium cleaning;

      

Production of super pure beryllium;

Investigation of element processes of plastic deformation of mono-and polycrystalline beryllium;

Development of structure-impurity concept of beryllium embrittlement;

Production of ductile polycrystalline beryllium.

This cycle of investigations performed by the laboratory collective under the leadership of G.F.Tikhinskiy was honored with State prize of USSR in field of science and technique in 1983 year.

 

      

       Then the laboratory performed works for production of structural beryllium on the base of powder and cast materials. Technology and equipment for production of spherical powder of beryllium with metastable structure by the method of melt sputtering was developed; technology of vacuum-tight foils and fine wire production was developed; hyper conductivity of beryllium is studied.

 

 

       Besides beryllium materials laboratory performs investigations for development of technology of new structural materials production. Processes of formation of structural characteristics and their influence on physical-mechanical and radiation properties of materials on the base of zirconium and hafnium for nuclear and fusion power are studied.
