Lavrinenko Sergey Dmitrievich – head of department of pure metals, physics of metals and technology and new materials, deputy director of Institute of solid state physics, material science and technology of National science center “Kharkov institute of physics and technology” (NSC KIPT)  of NAS of Ukraine, doctor of technical sciences, chief scientist.

Main fields of scientific interests: physics of metals, superconduction, vacuum metallurgy, physics of solid state, production of pure and super-pure metals, material science.

Under his leadership a series of works for study of effect of impurities and alloying elements on electro physical properties of high temperature superconductors was performed. With his participation equipment for electron-beam and zone melting in super high vacuum with the system of without oil pumping was set up and testes; a number of metals of high purity was obtained, physical-technological basics of metal refinement in high and super-high vacuum were developed for a number of metals: Zr, Hf, Fe, Ni, Sc, Mn, Cu; use of means for super high evacuation and method of mass-spectrometric control of gaseous medium during thermal treatment and melting of metals in vacuum is substantiated; technology of zirconium tetrafluorides sublimation as basic material for production of calcium thermal zirconium and its alloy with niobium is improved. He is candidate of physics and mathematics (1985), doctor of technical sciences (2007), chief scientist (1996), author and co-author of more than 175 scientific papers.
